The social economy: creating good quality jobs in Europe (pdf)

Dear colleagues,

Please find here (via Social Economy Europe's website) and attached, the minutes of the last Social Economy Intergroup public hearing on “The social economy: creating good quality jobs in Europe”, that took place on 12 January in the European Parliament, in Brussels.

More than 100 participants attended the public hearing, demonstrating, once again, the growing interest of the civil society and EU institutions in the further development of the social economy enterprise model. As stressed by various speakers, the social economy offers an opportunity to boost sustainable and inclusive growth, as well as to create more good quality jobs in Europe.

On another topic, for your information, please find attached the programme of the GUE/NGL’s First European Forum on Social and Solidarity Economy (EFSSE), that will take place in the European Parliament, in Brussels, on Thursday 28th of January:
“In May 2015, the GUE/NGL decided to set as one of its main goals for 2016 the organization of the First European Forum of Social and Solidarity Economy, aiming at promoting an exchange of experiences, highlighting the problems faced by the sector, as well as its potential in tackling the crisis effects and shifting the current worn out economic and cultural paradigms. Through a set of conferences, workshops and other side-activities the event will bring together more than 250 people, among stakeholders of the SSE, representatives of the European governments and the EU institutions. Specific actions of political impact will be proposed intended to foster the consolidation and expansion of the SSE within the EU”.
